BBC Travel Awards

Travel Award Deadline: 9 December 2025

The Behavior, Biology, and Chemistry (BBC) Meeting is pleased to offer travel awards to help defray the costs of attending the meeting, including waived registration fee, shared lodging at the conference hotel, and a $500 travel reimbursement*. Trainees of all ranks, as well as early career faculty, are encouraged to apply (see below for eligibility criteria). Awards are based on evidence of dedication to substance use disorder  research as well as the merits of the applicant and strength of the meeting presentation abstract. Abstracts must conform to the requirements described on the Abstract Submission Form and are judged based on clarity, study design and hypothesis, and the relevance of the research to the BBC conference. Each abstract submitted may only be submitted on behalf of one individual. Travel awardees are expected to attend the meeting and give a presentation.

*No funds from the lodging expenses may be used to supplement travel reimbursements. All lodging for awardees will be booked by the BBC conference. No exceptions will be made unless the awardee opts to forfeit that expense.

Travel award applications must include the following:

  • • Curriculum vitae

  • • Personal statement (not to exceed 1 page) indicating eligibility and interest in substance use disorder research and how the meeting will advance the applicant's education/career in research

  • • Letter of support from a supervisor, mentor, or department chair

  • • Abstract (submitted via the online form)
