Project Profile

Modernization of Elevators at McDermott and
Dental School Buildings

Facilities Management is in the process of modernizing six elevators on the Lozano Long and Greheey campuses. These modernizations include a full mechanical refurbishment to bring the elevator systems into full compliance with all current building and life safety codes as well as passenger cabin improvements.  These upgrades are expected to considerably improve the reliability and comfort of elevators that are heavily utilized.

Three elevators at the McDermott building as well as elevators D1, D2, and D3 in the Dental School are slated for modernization. These elevators will receive new motors, wall panels, ropes, controls and electronics. Most of this work is done in the hoist ways and machine rooms. As always, Facilities Management will let the University know of elevator outages and will provide information regarding alternate elevators that are in service for customers to utilize.  Work will be sequenced such that multiple elevators are not out of service due to this work.
