Modernization of Elevators on Lozano Long Campus
Facilities Management is modernizing the elevators on the Lozano Long campus. This includes cabin improvements as well as the replacement of large portions of the machinery and control systems. This upgrade is expected to considerably improve the reliability and comfort of elevators that are heavily utilized. There are a total of 20 elevators that will be upgraded that are located in the Medical, Dental, and Nursing School buildings.
“We already have completed about 75% of this project", says Dwight Beckingham, project manager. The elevators will be getting new motors, wall panels, ropes, controls and new electronics. Most of this work is done in the hoist ways and machine rooms.
As always, Facilities Management will let the HSC know of elevator outages and will provide information regarding alternate alternate elevators that are in service for customers to utilize.
